To create an account: your email address, a display name, and a password (stored as a secure hash — we never see it in plain text). Optionally, a profile photo.
When you save a product: the product title, URL, price, image, and any notes you add. This is the core of the service.
When you use the browser extension: the extension reads the product title, price, image, and URL from the shopping page you're on — but only when you actively click the save button. It does not track your browsing history or read any page you don't explicitly save from.
When someone adds a new store you've never used: we may analyze the page structure (HTML) to learn how to display products from that store correctly in the future. No personal data is involved in this process.
To run the service — storing and displaying your wishlists, generating your shareable URL (yourname.wantzit.com).
To send transactional emails: account confirmation, password resets, and gift claim notifications when someone claims an item from your list.
To generate affiliate links. When you save a product, we may wrap the link with an affiliate tag so that if someone buys through it, we earn a commission. This does not change the price for the buyer.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except as described in the section below.
Running WantzIt requires a few services. Here is what each one gets:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage. Your account data and lists live here.
- Vercel — website hosting. They see traffic metadata (IP addresses, request logs) like any web host.
- Resend — transactional email. Your email address is passed to them when we send you a message.
- Serper.dev — product search. If you search for a product inside WantzIt, your query is sent to their API.
- Affiliate networks (Amazon, eBay, Impact Radius, Awin, CJ, Rakuten) — when you click a product link, you may be redirected through an affiliate tracking link. This is how we earn commissions.
We use cookies and browser storage only to maintain your login session. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics pixels, or any third-party cookie-based tracking.
You can update your account information and profile at any time in settings. You can delete your account from settings — this permanently removes your profile, wishlists, and all saved items.
WantzIt is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will update. Continued use of WantzIt after changes means you accept the updated policy.
