Privacy Policy

Overview

wantzIt ("we", "our", or "us") is a wishlist platform that lets you save products from any shopping site and share them with others. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data we collect

Account information

• Email address and password (password is hashed and never stored in plain text)
• Display name and optional bio
• Profile avatar if you choose to upload one

Wishlist content

• List names, descriptions, and visibility settings
• Saved products: title, URL, price, image, and any notes you add

Browser extension

• When you click the wantzIt button on a shopping page, the extension reads that page's product title, price, image, and URL. This data is only sent to wantzIt when you choose to save the item.
• Your login session is stored in your browser's local extension storage so you stay logged in between visits.
• The extension does not track your browsing history or read pages unless you actively click the save button.

How we use your data

• To provide the wantzIt service — storing and displaying your wishlists
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, gift claim notifications)
• To generate affiliate links when you save or click on products — this allows us to earn a small commission at no extra cost to you
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties
• We do not use your data for advertising

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate wantzIt:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
• Vercel — website hosting
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Serper.dev — product search results (your search query is sent to their API)
• Affiliate networks (Amazon, Impact, Awin, CJ, Rakuten, eBay) — when you click a product link, you may be redirected through an affiliate network that tracks the click for commission purposes

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data — including your profile, wishlists, and saved items — is permanently deleted. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings.

Your rights

• You can access and update your account information at any time in settings
• You can delete your account and all associated data from settings
• You can request a copy of your data by contacting us

Cookies and storage

wantzIt uses cookies and browser storage solely to maintain your login session. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

Children's privacy

wantzIt is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last updated. Continued use of wantzIt after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
